6/12/05 Elverhoj Museum invites the public to California Pottery: Vintage and Value from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18. If you have ever wondered about the value and origin of a special piece of pottery, this one-day event is a great opportunity to learn more and to discover specifics about your piece.
The day begins with a short and informative presentation by guest curator Lansing Duncan. Immediately following, he will begin pottery evaluations, identifying era and place of origin as well as current value. Duncan will focus on production pottery manufactured between 1920 and 1960.
The fee for evaluation of up to five pieces of pottery is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Evaluations will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The current gallery exhibit, California Pottery: A Taste of Color, features a sampling of production pottery from the heyday of California ceramic design, the 1920s to 1960s.
The Elverhoj Museum of History and Art, 1624 Elverhoy Way, Solvang, is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. For more information, or to reserve a space, call 686-1211.
