Around the Lompoc Valley

Regulators finish second at Roller Hockey tournament

The Central Coast Regulators (formerly CCSA Rage) 18-and-under roller hockey team finished second in the Gold division of a North American Roller Hockey Championship qualifier tournament in West Covina.

Team members range from Lompoc to Paso Robles, including Tony Orr, Taylor Doudna and Brandon Berryman from Lompoc, Ryan Kozak and Tobin Flamm from Santa Maria and Michael Garcia from Nipomo.

With wins over Team Inline Warehouse 9-3 and the San Diego Rockets 4-3, The Regulators moved to the championship game falling to 949 Anarchy of Orange County 8-0.

Orr led the team in scoring while defenseman Doudna and forward/defenseman Berryman also made big contributions in the tournament.

The Regulators are scheduled to participate in the North American Roller Hockey Championship tournament against teams from across the country as well as Canada and Mexico in mid-July in San Jose.

Registration continues for first Conq Golf Classic

Registration is now being accepted for the first Conq Classic Golf Tournament. The tourney will be held at the Village Country Club on Friday, June 20.

Funds raised at the event will benefit the athletic department at Cabrillo High. Registration forms are available at the Cabrillo High athletic office.

The cost is $125 per golfer for the shotgun four-man scramble. The cost includes a round of golf, cart, lunch and dinner and a door prize ticket.

Tim Costa and California Chrysler-Dodge are major sponsors of the golf tournament. The dinner is sponsored by Roger McConnell and the Stillman Capitol Group.

After dinner, there will be an auction which features several golf packages at local golf courses, a one-year membership at the Village Country Club, a spa/dinner package at the Chumash Casino Resort and several sports memorabilia items including San Diego Chargers merchandise and an autographed picture of Laker guard Kobe Bryant.

Gymnastic North Offers Parents Nite Out and Tumble Jungle

Gymnastics North in Lompoc is offering two programs in June.

Parent's Nite Out

This is available for children ages 4 through 13 on Friday, June 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30. The evening features gymnastics fun and games, plus pizza and for less than the cost of a baby-sitter.

Games will include the Super swing, Sling Machine and the Monkey Maze. For more information call 735-6163.

Tumble Jungle

The Tumble Jungle is a week-long camp for children ages three and up. It will be held from Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20.

Young students be offered movement and motor skills development, combined with arts and crafts. Older students received extensive gymnastics training with games, relays and time spent on what Gymnastics North calls - the most fun equipment in town.

All skill levels are welcome with whole and half day camps available. To receive a flyer call 735-6163.




Coast Valley Junior Golf Assoc. readies for Summer season

The Coastal Valley Junior Golf Association (CVJGA) is now accepting applications for it's upcoming season.

The CVJGA is a competitive golf league open to all boys and girls, 17-years old and younger with junior golfers getting to play tournaments at all the golf courses on the Central Coast.

The season starts June 17 at the Alisal River Course in Solvang.

Here are the results for games played in the Lompoc Adult Softball leagues from Sunday, June 1 through Sunday, June 8.

Sunday, June 1

Coed Oak

Dr. T's 11, Whistle Stop 9

After trailing 6-0 after the first inning, Dr. T's battled back scoring four runs in the seventh to record the come-from-behind win.

Anthony Terrones had a grand slam home run and a double with four runs batted in and Nick Terrones added two RBIs with two singles.

Pizza Garden 19, La Familia 11

Darren Greene had six RBIs with a home run, a triple and three doubles to lead the way. Mike Bennett added a double and two singles for two RBIs.

Pizza Garden put the game away with 11 runs in the sixth.

Coed Pine

Coast Hills Impact 16, Sushi Teri 15

After leading 10-1 after the first, the Impact withheld a furious comeback by Sushi Teri, who scored seven in the fifth to pull within one run.

Ian Polley hit two doubles and a single to lead the Impact.

Sushi Teri 12, The Shack 4

Sushi Teri scored nine runs in the second inning. Kurt Schmidt had a home run and had three RBIs. Paul Feeley and Nick Jansen each hit solo home runs.

ETS Properties 12, Pommerville 9

E.J. Villarreal hit a home run with three runs batted in.

ETS trailed 6-3 after three innings but took control with four runs in the fourth.

Wednesday, June 4

Atlantic

Los Amigos 14, Valley POD 10

Tom Mustain hit a home run and a double to knock in four runs, while Mike Mendibles and Rod Barcelona each had a double and two RBIs.

LPOA 18, V&J Trucking 9

Philip Dollman had four runs batted in with a double and a single, while Scott Smith hit a homer and double for three RBIs.

LPOA led 10-3 after three innings, extending the lead to 15-5 after four.

Wolf Pack 22, Pizza Garden 10

Darren Greene exploded for seven RBIs with two home runs, double, single and a sacrifice fly. Glenn Hopkins had three RBIs with a homer and a single.

The Wolf Pack scored 11 runs in the fifth to pull away.

Thursday, June 5

Indian

Armero Electric 12, USANA 11

Armero held on to victory after USANA scored five runs in the seventh to get close.

Chris Marek hit a home run and two singles with two runs batted in. Vince Villa hit a triple and two doubles.

Werner Construction 7, Brothers 6

With four runs in the second inning, Werner took a 5-1 lead then withstood a Brothers comeback.

Ricky Theis hit a solo home run in the win.

Strike Force 19, LP Hackers 9

Strike Force scored 12 runs in the second inning and cruised to the victory.

Joe Panel had three runs batted in with a home run and two singles. Justin Bailey added three RBIs with three singles.

Arctic

Evolution 21, Santori Woodworking 11

Evolution had two big innings, scoring 10 in the first and eight in the fourth.

Diego Elizondo had four RBIs with two triples and a single and Mike Despres hit a home run and two singles with three RBIs.

Mi Amore Maniacs 14, Bad Habits 12

Mi Amore scored two in the seventh to tie the game and won it with two runs in the ninth.

Ian Polley hit a home run and had two RBIs. Justin Davis had four hits, including a double.

Solvang Taxi 15, Furies 4

Seven runs in the fourth clinched the game for Solvang. Danny Terrones hit two home runs and two doubles to knock in five runs. Anthony Terrones hit a triple, double and single, while Nelson Michel homered in the game.

Sunday, June 8

Coed Oak

Dr. T's 9, La Familia 6

Anthony Terrones had five runs batted in with a home run, triple and single. Teresa Martinez-Baker hit a triple and three singles.

Whistle Stop 13, Pizza Garden 12

Whistle Stop needed two runs in the seventh to earn the victory.

Clint McIntosh hit for the cycle and knocked in five runs. Doug Beecher and Mary Caron each had two RBIs.

Coed Pine

ETS Properties 18, Sushi Teri 3

ETS scored in every inning, including six runs in the third.

Joe Holt had a home run and a single with three RBIs, while Nick Carbaugh added two RBIs with a double and a single.

ETS Properties 8, Pommerville 7

Troy Carbaugh and Steve Pierce each homered in the win as ETS took their second game of the night. Pierce and Emily Clendenin led the team with two RBIs.

The Shack 21, Coast Hills Impact 13

Julian Vineyard had five RBIs with a home run and a double. Brock Halterman hit a home run, double and two singles with four RBIs.
