LHS Alumni to hold car show
The Lompoc High School Alumni Association will hold its sixth annual Show and Shine Car Show Saturday at Ryon Park. The fee is $35. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with judging from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., followed by awards. Awards will be presented in 26 classes, plus best of show. Also featured throughout the day will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing, a barbecue and the opportunity to donate blood at the bloodmobile. The show is free.
The night before, Friday, coinciding with the first Olde Towne Market of the season, there will be a sanctioned cruise through downtown Lompoc from 5 to 7:30 p.m. All drivers must register and sign a disclaimer.
A $10 entry fee will be charged. All cruisers must meet in the City Hall parking lot at C Street and Ocean Avenue. All proceeds from the cruise and the car show benefit the Lompoc High School Alumni Association scholarship fund.

Discipline classes to start Wednesday
Lompoc Schools Resource Center presents, “Effective Discipline” with Gregg Goodwin, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through July 23, in English and Spanish, at the Dorothy Jackson Family Resource Center, 501 North W St.
This is a three-week series, which is designed to help parents learn techniques that will improve communication with the family and develop strategies to reduce the stresses of parenting.

Cabrillo High School alumni to host reunion
Cabrillo High School graduates from the classes of 1975 through 1980 are invited to attend a barbecue at noon Saturday, July 26, at Miguelito Park on Miguelito Canyon Road. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for kids (ages 12-17) and $5 for kids (ages 5-11). The barbecue will include tri-tip, chicken, salad, beans and bread. Anyone attending is asked to bring their own beverages and if possible, a dessert or side dish to share.

GOP hosting barbecue at Ken Adam Park
The public is invited to a tri-tip, chicken and sausage barbecue hosted by the Republican Club and catered by Bruce Nix, Prime Cuts, starting with winetasting at noon Sunday at Ken Adam Park, next to the Allan Hancock College campus.
Tickets cost $11 and include all food and drinks served at 1 p.m., buffet style. The guest speaker will be Santa Barbara County District Attorney Christie Stanley and candidates for the November election. Make reservations early by calling June Shockency,

Vacation Bible School scheduled
True Vine Bible Fellowship invites all children between the ages of 5 and 18 to attend its annual Vacation Bible School, from 6 to
8:30 p.m. July 14 to 18. A light dinner for the children will be served from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The theme this year is “Chosen Champions for Jesus.” There will be games, stories, crafts and singing. True Vine is at 533 South Avalon Ave., near the Crown Pointe neighborhood on Olive Avenue. For information, call the church office at 736-1761.
