About Town for August 5, 2008

LGSA membership meeting scheduled

The Lompoc Girls Softball Association general membership meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at 124 North I Street. All candidates must be present at the meeting if running for a position.

The following two-year positions are open for the 2008-09 season: vice president, treasurer, Division 2 representative, Ponytail/Cap Player representative, publicity/web master, field coordinator, equipment manager, concessionaire and member at large.

The following one-year positions are open: uniform manager, ways and means committee.

Anyone interested in any of the positions can submit a request in writing to LGSA; P.O. Box 1544; Lompoc, Calif. 93438; Attention: Joy.

Anyone who was a member in good standing for the 2008 season is eligible to vote at the elections. All newly voted members will take their positions Sept. 1. For more information, call Joy Terrones at 740-9166

1950s party planned Aug. 15

The Mission Hills Baptist Church is planning a 1950s party from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at 3625 Rucker Road. This event is free and open to the public. 1950s dress is encouraged; prizes will be given for best costume. Music and other activities are planned. For more information, call 733-2267.

CHS to hold fundraiser rummage sale

Cabrillo High School Football Booster Club is holding a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at La Mesa School parking lot at Jupiter and Constellation in Vandenberg Village. All proceeds will be used to help offset the cost of football equipment. Cash donations will also be accepted P.O.C.
