Plant sale and auction to be held
The Coastal Valley Orchid Society of Lompoc will hold its annual plant sale and auction at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Grossman Gallery inside the Lompoc Public Library, 501 East North Ave. The public is welcome.
Baboon bash planned Saturday
The Southside Coffee Co., 105 South H St., will hold a concert fundraiser beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The concert will feature Emily Wryn, Eagermeek, Le Petite Protest and St. Anne's Place and will help support Miranda DeSilvia with her volunteer work at a baboon sanctuary in Africa. Admission is $3 per person. DeSilvia's artwork will also be on sale.
Celebrating 50 years in Lompoc
The First Southern Baptist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary beginning with a special worship service with former associate pastor Wayne Stacks at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. Danny Martinez, former director of music, will lead Worship Music. Immediately following the service will be a tri-tip barbecue lunch in the Fellowship Hall.

Beattie Park to host 5K/10K run
The Lompoc Parks, Recreation and Urban Forestry Department invites the public to a 5K/10K race with check-in from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. This event is geared to all ages and ability levels. The pre-registration fee is $10, and will be $15 the day of the event.
