Allan Hancock College and the American Association of University Women Lompoc7Vandenberg Branch are presenting a one-day conference titled &#8220Smart Talk: Women and MoneyC from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Allan Hancock College Lompoc Valley Center, Bldg. 1, Room 1-204 (LVC Café).

The seminar will feature guest speakers, workshops and networking opportunities with local professionals. The fee is ,25. Scholarships are available through donations made by the Santa Barbara County Commission for Women and the Northern Santa Barbara County United Way.

Keynote speakers Joseph White, a Santa Barbara City College professor, and Dulcie Sinn, a family management services consultant, will provide insight on family money management and information on how to build a lifetime of economic security.

There will also be a &#8220Sharing Our Stories of SuccessC plenary session featuring women who will share their inspiring successes, including Laurel Barcelona, assistant city administrator, City of Lompoc; Tanya Opfermann, assistant superintendent, Lompoc Unified School District; Linda Sanders, warden, Lompoc federal prison; Jayne Scalise, nurse executive, Lompoc Healthcare District; and Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Cari Kent, of Vandenberg AFB.

Workshop sessions include &#8220Learning for Earning: Making the Most of Your Education,C presented by Jeanie Tyler, interim director, Allan Hancock College Off-Campus Programs; Nicole Wong, UCSB Early Education Outreach and representatives from the Lompoc Unified School District and UCSB; &#8220Investment and Retirement Money Management,C presented by Allan Hancock College Community Education instructor Don Phinney, AAMS, and other professionals from local banks and financial planning associations; &#8220Getting the Most from Your Union Membership,C presented by representatives from local unions; &#8220Workforce Trends in Lompoc Valley,C presented by Kate Griffith, City of Lompoc economic development manager, and Tim Harrington, consultant, Small Business Administration and Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce.

To register, download and complete the registration form on page 17 and deliver it to Allan Hancock College Community Education in Building S, (newly relocated across from the tennis courts on the Santa Maria campus) or fax it to 352-1046.

Print copies of the schedule containing the registration form are also located at all college locations and many community offices, including post offices, libraries and chambers of commerce.

Make checks payable to: AAUW-Lompoc. The registration fee includes the keynote speech, any two workshops, the plenary session and a continental breakfast and box lunch.

Registration will be taken at the door on a space-available basis only.
