Lompoc Civic Theatre?s current dinner theater offering, BLooking for KittyC is a delightful night of food and fun for anyone.
The Village Country Club hosts this intimate production, and serves as a superb setting to spend an evening relaxing with old friends, or perhaps with brand new ones, as well.
LCT sits everyone at tables of eight, and serves salad, entr/e and dessert as intermissions for the two-act play.
This leaves a great opportunity to meet and discuss the play with your tablemates.
We had the great pleasure of sitting with the family of one of the actresses, and it was fascinating to hear of her history and growth within the LCT.
BLooking for KittyC is a glimpse into the lives of three women who share their experiences looking for Kitty.
For two of the women it really does involve a feline search, but for one, it alludes to an unseen adulterous woman.
A key element to the three-woman play is that there is no one else really involved 8 the women talk off-stage to other people, but the drama comes in the interplay of their internal thoughts.
Often we learn about each woman through the perceptions of the other women.
First it seems as if the three women have unrelated experiences, but as the play progresses, you discover that Bsix degrees of separation,C where simple events in one person?s life really do affect other people in profound, often unknown ways.
Marian Stave stars as Vi, who is introduced trying to find a cat. Through her search we learn about her life and various jobs. Stave is fabulous as always, and is the true backbone of the company.
Chris Jeszech is Lil, the meek woman looking for a job and affirmation from other people, who ultimately realizes she may find what she needs from a cat.
Jeszeck is fantastic, coming out of her shell to reveal how and why Lil is the way she is.
Jeszeck has awesome comedic timing and knows how to use her body to elicit everything from a scene.
Rosemary Torres is Iris, the wife who discovers her husband is cheating on her with a woman named Kitty. Torres is subtle and terrific in her timing, highlighting the irony of her words with a perfect touch of rage flowing under her calm exterior.
In the past Torres has mostly supported LCT behind the scenes, but she shows she can hold her own out front, as well.
There is one more chance to catch this great evening of entertainment 8 Oct. 21. Call the LCT at 735-ACT1 for more information or check online at www.welcometo/Lompoc CivicTheatre.
