Beautification awards planned

The Lompoc Beautification and Appearance Commission announces its annual &#8220Say it with FlowersC beautification awards.

Judging will take place June 10 though June 15, with the first, second and third place judging on Saturday, June 17.

Barbecue fund-raiser

The Lompoc Filipino American Club is sponsoring a barbecue fund-raiser for its Flower Festival Queen candidate Stephanie Salandanan from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, in front of the Vons grocery store on North H Street.

Proceeds for the fund-raiser will help pay for the ,2,000 queen candidate entry fee. For more information on making a donation to that cause, call Vic Villegas, 588-5139, or Lori David, 291-8423.

Candidates faire set

The Coalition against the County Split invites all to a &#8220Banana Split not County SplitC old-fashioned ice cream social and candidate faire from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Casa Grande Mobile Home Park, 519 W. Taylor Street, Santa Maria.

Candidates for sheriff, as well as different offices, will be serving the banana splits and also have information tables. For more information, call Joyce Howerton at 736-1897.
