Harvest block party celebrates Halloween

Lompoc Foursquare Church will hold its annual Harvest Block Party from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, in the 100 block of North C Street.

The event will include more than 30 games with prizes and contests for children of all ages, including bounce houses and slides, climbing wall, pony rides, Hot Wheels car track and more. Music will be provided by award-winning Simon Pure Bluegrass Band.

This event is free and open to the public. Food will be sold at the party. Cotton candy, popcorn, games and candy are free.

Trick or treats given at local swap meet

Lompoc swap meet and market place invites the public to trick or treat safely, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at 121 South I St.

Organizers will offer candy and treats for children accompanied by an adult. Halloween costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.

Fundraiser barbecue to be held Saturday

Queen of Angels Knights of Columbus will hold a fundraiser barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Walgreens parking lot, 937 North H St. Tickets will be sold for $7 each and will include a tri-tip or chicken dinner.

Proceeds will benefit Lompoc's Life's Options, Vocational and Resource Center (LOVARC).

Lompoc High class of 1990 seeks members

The Lompoc High School class of 1990 is looking for members for the 20-year class reunion, planned to be held Flower Festival weekend, June 25 to 27, 2010.

Halloween party held at youth center

Lompoc Valley Community Youth Center will host a Halloween party beginning at 3:30 p.m. at 537 North K St. This party is free and open to children 5 to 18 years old. Those under 5 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

The event will include a Karaoke machine, candy, snacks and games. Costumes are encouraged, but no demonic costumes will be allowed. Prizes will be given for most creative costume.

La Purisima to hold fundraiser

La Purisima Concepcion Catholic School will hold its second annual Spaghetti Dinner and White Elephant Bingo from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at 337 South I St.

The $5 spaghetti dinner includes salad, garlic bread, dessert and punch. Bingo cards are $2 or three for $5. All proceeds will benefit La Purisima Religious Education.

Wine tasting event to benefit set

The Huber Cellars will host "Cheers for Charlotte," a wine-tasting event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at 4892 Hapgood Road.

The event will benefit the Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society.

Flying Goat, Clos Pepe and Chien also will pour their wines for the event.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the Humane Society, 111 Commerce Drive, in Buellton or by calling 688-8224. Tickets also can be purchased at the door.

Open class reunion planned

Cabrillo and Lompoc high schools will hold an open class reunion from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 108 East Locust Ave.

All LHS and CHS alumni, teachers and staff are invited. Tickets are available now until midnight, Oct. 31 for $35 and from Nov. 1 through 21 for $45. Ticket price includes admittance, barbecue dinner and champagne and music performances by DJ Press (AKA Robert Hill). Alcohol is not included in ticket price. Tickets will not be available at the door.
