American Legion Post 211 honors veterans
American Legion Post 211 will hold the Welcome Home Veterans Benefit barbecue chicken dinner, at 5 p.m. Thursday, at
630 North H St. Featured will be entertainment by Electric Nights, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with music and karaoke. Cost is $7 per dinner. All proceeds will go to the Welcome Home Veterans Program. Dinner is free for all veterans.
La Purisima to hold spaghetti and bingo fundraiser
La Purisima Concepcion Catholic School will hold its Second Annual Spaghetti Dinner and White Elephant Bingo from 6:30 to
10:30 p.m. Saturday, at 337 South I St. The $5 spaghetti dinner includes salad, garlic bread, dessert and punch. Bingo cards are $2 or three for $5. All proceeds will benefit La Purisima Religious Education.

Counseling center offers self-help seminar
Valley Medical Group Counseling Center will host a self-help seminar featuring Marriage and Family Therapists Ann Bockius and Pamela Osborn, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at 119 South B St. Admission is $50 and open to the public. Participants will learn techniques that help improve self-expression, practice assertive skills and identify power struggles.

Pastor Doug's holiday pies to be sold
New Life Christian Academy will sell Pastor Doug's Thanksgiving pies for
$12 each. Pie flavors include banana cream, chocolate cream, coconut cream, pumpkin and Boston Cream cake. Pies can be ordered by calling

Thursday blood drive set at Elks Lodge
The United Blood Services/Central Coast will hold a blood drive from
1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Ave.
Donors must feel well, have eaten prior to donation, weigh at least
110 pounds and be at least 17 years of age. Photo identification is required.
Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are recommended. For appointments, call 965-7037.
AYSO to hold fundraiser Saturday and Sunday
American Youth Soccer Organization Girls U10 and U12 will host a fundraiser selling Carnitas (shredded pork) and grilled chicken tacos, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 14, and Sunday, Nov. 15, at Riverbend Park soccer fields. Both entrees will be sold for $2 each.
All proceeds will help AYSO Girls U10 and U12 teams travel to compete in the 2010 National Games in Florida.
