Rethink tax structure
Now that the tax season has come and gone, don/t you just love it? I mean do you not love having to deal with the IRS?
The American people can change this system and everyone wins except the IRS, they would be gone.
Think about it, would it not be nice to not have to worry about the IRS, and also have the Treasury have more money than they do now.
Just take the latest issue in the headlines, that being immigration. If we could just have the Legislature pass the Fair Tax Act (13R 25), all immigrants, legal and illegal, would pay their fair share instead of not paying at all.
Under our present system, many non-citizens do not pay income and payroll tax, even though they are here earning wages. They also may receive many benefits in the form of health care, education, roads and much more.
Under the Fair Tax, if someone is nat a lawful resident but purchases goods or services for consumption here, not only do they pay the Fair Tax on each purchase, they are not eligible to receive a prebate to offset the taxes on their purchases up to the poverty level.
In other words, they pay 100 percent of their sales tax, every time they buy. The only way to get a prebate, and therefore not pay taxes on the purchase of essential goods and services, is to become a legal resident.
So, in effect, the Fair Tax helps promote legal immigration by ensuring that only lawful residents receive the prebate.
The Tax Act will bring back jobs to America, it will also increase the GNP by about 10 percent. Also, no payroll taxes for all Americans.
