I would like to take this opportunity to thank Walmart for supporting the Lompoc Public Library's literacy programs.

For the past seven years, Walmart has faithfully donated funds to the Friends of the Library, which help to purchase skill books for teaching adults to read, and children's books for promoting the value and importance of reading to families.

The day of the check presentation, there were at least four other organizations - El Concilio de Lompoc, Lompoc High School Athletic Department, Vandenberg Village Football League, and the Arts Council from the Santa Ynez area - all there for the same purpose. I think it is terrific, and I applaud Walmart for its generosity and for giving back to our community.
