What good is a pool when you can/t use it?
For the second weekend in a row, I have had to explain to my 4-year-old son Ruben that the city pool is full to capacity, and that he will not be able to go in to swim. Yesterday/s look of disappointment from my son really hurt me. He was so much looking forward to it.
You see, we lost our pool two years ago when we moved away from the old Park Place apartments on Barton Street to purchase our house, and from time to time he would ask to go swimming and we would tell him that soon the city would open a pool for kids to use.
Well, opening day in November last year came and went and no pool. The summer came and went this year and still no pool. And now when the pool finally opens, we come to this overcrowding. Filled to capacity.
So I ask you, once again, what good is a pool if you can/t use it? But hey, it/s not that bad. There is always plenty of parking. And I/m sure this will come in handy when he starts to learn how to drive.
