Having lived in Vandenberg Village since 1981, I/ve used its library resources occasionally, for various reasons. Granted, a library is a vital resource for a community, for the services it offers. And in the case of the Vandenberg Village library, it/s nice to have 7 convenient 7 but is it a dire necessity? Obviously not, since the city of Lompoc has a large, well maintained and functioning library, which serves all the communities, including Vandenberg Village, Mesa Oaks and Mission Hills.
Before Measure O was proposed, was there a library participation survey conducted, to justify additional hours as well as expenses? And when you/re deciding how to vote on Measure 0, cast aside the “nice to haveC image, and concentrate on the practicality of the matter, along with the parcel assessment fee, that will increase annually, to fund this measure.
