AYSO kicks off fall season

The fields of Lompoc came alive last week with Angels both fearless and pink, Princess Bullfrogs and Black Magic Babes, Lightenings and Lightnings in gold and purple, plus Teal Lightning Bolts, Blueberry Rockets and the Dark Side. Yep, AYSO youth soccer is back in action.

Under 10 girls

Firebirds 5, Pink Angels 1

Firebird Alyson Bean got hot with three goals, with Valerie Kahn and Priscilla Angulo also scorching the net for the Birds.

S/Stars 4, Princess Bullfrogs 0

Shooting Stars got two goals from Lexi Barbosa, plus scores by Andrea Hill and Lauren Signorelli, in stopping the Princess Bullfrogs.

Blue Crush 4, Tsunami

Two Crush goals by Madison McNamee kept the Tsunami down. Raquel Westbury and Kayla Pence also scored for Blue Crush.

T/Bolts 1, Fearless Angels 0

Tia Terrones scored the only goal of the game, off a pass from Kayla Sandoval, as the Teal Lightning Bolts won their opener. Demi Ames led the defense that kept the Fearless Angels from scoring.

Under 10 boys

Anacondas 3, Juventus 2

Trino Zavala and Ray Walters snaked goals in for the Anacondas, with Nick Valverde/s defensive efforts key in keeping Juventus from tying it up.

Hornets 4, Cruz Azul 1

Hornet Kenny Barton /hawked/ away at two goals, Tom Requejo /bombed/ one in and Sam Andrews /bammed/ another one through for the Hornets opening win.

Sharks 2, T/birds 1

The Sharks got both goals early, first from Miguel Padilla and then Uri Zarate, and goalie Mike Palacios held off the Thunderbirds/ many shot attempts.

T/bird Nate Tulloch scored off an assist from Cory Haigler, and goalie Dorian Sportsman shut out the Sharks in the second half.

Under 12 girls

Hornets 2, Reapers 2

Goals by Hornets Sara Studer and Athena Nava were equalled by Reaper rips from Jenna Rudolph and Brigette Sadowski. it was up to the goalies, and Hornet Alexa Berryman and Reaper Cara Carucci kept the nets clear.

Tsunamis 4, G/Lightening 2

A wave of three first-half goals, two by Rocio Cortez and one from Sandi Esquival, gave the Tsunami the win. Raneeta Richardson added a late goal.

Gold Lightening narrowed the gap to 3-2 with third quarter goals from Emily

Bean and Kaitlyn Ogan.

F/Flames 6, P/Lightning 1

Fantastic Flames Ashelen Weddington scored three times and Ashley Jacobsen twice, while goalie Rebecca Doudna made /the save of the day/ and also came up with a goal as the Flames stopped the Purple Lightning.

Destroyers 4, Tigers 0

Solid defense shut out the Tigers while Jasmine Hernandez scored two goals. Tatiana Dunlap and Maegan Handy also netted goals for the Destroyers.

Under 14 girls

O/Crush 2, Psycho/s 0

Whitney Kinney blasted both Orange Crush goals, while defenders Miranda Delgado and Torrie Faulkner held speedy Psycho Rebekah Roberts scoreless.

Prudential/s Psychos got good play also from Kaihla Ashley and Sara Taylor.

Fusion 4, Dark Side 2

The Fusion eclipsed the Dark Side despite goals from Heather Leyva and Jenifer Justice, and a solid Dark Side defense led by Lucero Rosales.

Rockets 0, Babes 0

The Blueberry Rockets held Black Magic Babes scoreless with strong play from Stephanie Kronick, Ashley Fabing and Hillary Davis. The Babes followed the lead of Alma Mendoza, Charlotte Mosholder and Brenda Arevalos.

Girls U/ 0, Tinkerbells 0

Two strong defensive efforts, with goalie Brandy Machado, Jenna Hillard and sweeper Erica Evans of Girls United getting plaudits for their play.

Under 14 boys

Eagles 4, Aztecs 3

Eagle Daniel Jimenez started the season with a hat trick of three goals, plus added an assist on Jose Marquez/ goal. Rafael Alberto also got an assist, and Cody Valverde helped with the Eagles/ momentum.
