Two unbeaten teams squared off Saturday in the Central Coast Youth Football League Junior Division Super Bowl at San Luis Obispo High School.

The Orcutt Outlawz downed the Lompoc Pistons 27-0 to win the championship.

The Outlawz finished 11-0. The Pistons finished 10-1. The Junior Division is primarily for boys 10 and 11-year-olds. Nine-year-olds are in the division too if they weigh too much to play in the Bantam Division.

Even though his team came up short Saturday, “Our players had a good season,” said Lompoc coach Virgil Cortez. “All of them worked very hard.” The Pistons outscored their opposition by a combined 177-26 during an 8-0 regular season.

Orcutt drove from its 43 to the Lompoc 23 on the first series of the game. The Pistons defense, led by Trevaughn Ross, Gabriel Ramirez and Syrus Anderson, stiffened there. The Pistons took over on downs.

However, the Outlawz’ Logan Sherwood recovered a Pistons fumble on the Lompoc 27. That gave Orcutt the first in a number of short fields it had to work with Saturday.

Louie Pinon Concepcion connected with Quinntin Perez for 14 yards on the first play after Sherwood’s fumble recovery. Two plays later, Angelo Torres stiff-armed a would-be tackler in the backfield and raced in to the end zone from nine yards out.

Josh Epps booted the first of his three point-after-touchdowns, and the Outlawz used a tough running game and defense to prevail after that.

The Outlawz drove 54 yards on their second series for their second score. The 11-play drive was all on the ground. Torres squirted through tackle attempts to score from two yards away. Epps kicked the extra point.

Orcutt’s Richie Ortiz intercepted a pass at the Pistons 31 on the next Lompoc series to set up the Outlawz’ last touchdown of the first half. A pass interference call nullified an interception by Lompoc’s Ruben Cortez. Perez scored from the nine two plays later.

Lompoc’s defense shut out Orcutt in the third quarter, and the Pistons drove to the Outlawz 40 and 35 on respective drives. However, the Outlawz’ defense made stops both times.

Torres scored Orcutt’s last touchdown on a one-yard run.

Anderson led all rushers with 58 yards on 15 carries. Raymond Garcia added 13 yards on the ground for Lompoc. Isaiah PIco had 11 yards.

Orcutt had 182 yards in total offense to Lompoc’s 82. Torres was the Outlawz’s leading rusher with 38 yards on 11 carries.

Bantam Division

Vandenberg Conqs 42, Santa Maria Titans 21

Toa Taua and Dallas Canley both scored two touchdowns for the Conqs as they won their second consecutive Super Bowl.

The Conqs (11-0) allowed just six points during the regular season and only 25 points in the playoffs before the game Saturday.

Conner Hayes and Hector Hernandez each scored a touchdown for the Conqs, who were coached by Melvin Flowers.
