Holy Stone Ten!
Jim DiYorio shot 1015 and Ron Heron 959 and they ran away with first place money of ,115 in last Saturday/s Handicap Doubles Tournament.
Yeah Baby had a great run in the Classic Commercial League. Anytime a bowling team can go 32-0, they have exceeded being just good 7 they have been outstanding.
But it had to end.
The question was, when?
When was last week!
No Name Team 15 used consistent and sensational scoring to trounce Yeah Baby 6-2.
Okay, the suspense is over. Now on to the rest of the season and Yeah Baby still leads the league with a 34-6 record.
Scoring for the past two weeks was sensational.
Doug Fennell had a 248/704.
Gary Rodriguez had two 660-plus series, a 245/666 and 244/661. He is definitely starting to find the range.
Ken Greene Senior banged out a splendid 222/642, Melvin White a terrific 233/627, and Jim Socia dazzled the audience with his tremendous 220/626.
Several bowlers waved to the audience after shooting some great scores: Andy Winston (214/615), Pat Dampier (211/612), John Flores Junior (211/606) and Ruben Rodriguez with a 225/599.
Doc Bob Guerra stuck a thrilling 233/588, Jose DeLaCruz threw a superb 229/585, and Jerry Panel scored a nifty 204/551.
Two members of the Vega family carried the honors list with pride: G.T. with two 193 games and a stupendous 565 series, and Linda with a memorable 186/458 set.
Fun Bunch League
Two weeks ago, the Baileys carried placards announcing their league scoring: Ken with a league-leading 226/627, and Justin with a second place 244/620. Last week both had off nights.
But not Ron Heron and Vince Culliver.
Ron rolled a sizzling 226/665 and Vince a dazzling 245/661. Wow!
Two weeks ago, Julio Reyes hit a terrific 224/609, Jeff Grossen a nifty 199/542, and Marcy Hyde a delightful 200/529.
Last week Fred Hierholzer led the league in scoring with a monster 257/703 and Gary Rodriguez splattered another fantastic set on the pin decks, this time a 237/659.
Two weeks ago, Doris Fredieu got her cannon under control and hit a booming 184/521, and old-timer Bob Stokes was all smiles after stroking a wonderful 183/519.
Last week, youngster Bob Stokes scorched the lanes for a tremendous 237/638 and Seth Walters rolled a great 236/579.
Two weeks ago, Juan Mendez went out and in for a neat 192/520 and Alan Acquistapace went down and in for a 205/500.
Last week, several bowlers achieved stardom 7 Robert Craigie (235/614), George Hall (258/571), Scott Meile (184/535), and Ben Barker (205/529).
And it should be noted that Cindy Galante shot a marvelous 182/508 last week and whipped her hubby by some 86 pins.
Lastly, Dave Harper proudly carried the honors list for all to see his quality 163/469 series.
Grey Panthers League
Who is this old timer who rolls a powerful 254/639 two weeks ago and follows that with a fabulous 225/631 last week?
Well, he is known as Fred Hierholzer and Fred has been putting some powerful numbers on the standing sheets in all of the leagues he is bowling in this winter season.
Three other Centrum Silver specialists broke 600 last week.
Lynn Bond was simply awesome with his 237/668.
Joe Bousquet finally got untracked and shot three consistent beauties (196-215-195) for a 606, and Antony Overton stroked a terrific 222/605.
Jack Barros rolled a joyful 188/530 and Paul Ortiz rolled a decent 182/510.
Three others used experience and cunning to break 500 7 Bud Morehouse (190/507), George Hall (201/503), and the pride and joy of the eight decades club, Harold Couch, who shot a 503 jewel.
Brodie All Star Classic League
Wow! Simply wow Š
Three 900 series and four games over 260.
The All Stars are getting untracked for sure.
Sam Loresco was the top shooter with a 266/917.
The other 900 shooters were Chris Moseby with a terrific 279/908 and Art Doherty with a sensational 267/905.
Tom Reigle had a humungous 261 game and terrific 887 series.
Jake Buenaventura cranked out a torrid 246/870 and Jim Brodie finally pulled all of the cobwebs out of his equipment and hit a 231/866 series.
And seen marching around the concourse holding the honors list was your aging correspondent (226/830) with Lerma Buenaventura (213/733).
Hits & Mrs. League
Belinda Thomas led the young ladies to the salad bar after munching a delicious 236/549 series.
Ngaire Kemp rolled a great 193/529, Lerma Buenaventura a decent 183/522, and Judy Jenkins an okay 172/513.
Clarissa Watson and Liz Schmidt stroked 508 sets while Bobby Thompson just missed her 500, shooting 189/495.
Lisa Pedersen toppled a terrific 167/478 set.
Joanne Hallwachs smashed a 177/465 series, and Katie Saum stroked a delightful 165/457.
Virginia Babayan returned to the honors list with a 180/435 while Marjorie Silva danced around the concourse showing off her 137/393 series.
Kings & Queens League
The King keeps changing hands while the Queen refuses to yield her position.
Gene Rondash is the new King after executing a fantastic 221/642 series, while Belinda Thomas remains Queen despite a rather sedate 188/503.
Antony Overton lanced a decent 193/534 while Gary Watson demonstrated true grit going from a horrible 131 game to a dynamic 221, finishing with a 530 series.
Ngaire Kemp (183/454) and Barb Klinedinst (150/444) tried to keep pace with the Queen, but faltered, while Dan Turocy had the honor of closing the moat gate after hitting a 181/495 series.
Elks Mixed League
Two weeks ago 7 as you may remember 7 the young buck sort of took the old buck to the cleaners, as they say.
Well, he did it again last week.
Lynn Bond, the aging moose with graying hair, stomped out a fantastic 268/733 series.
Four lanes to the right, the young buck, Jake Buenaventura, also shot a 268 game but his series was five pins better (738).
Meanwhile, another unbelievable event took place on lanes 21-22 where Scott Meile rolled a sensational 245/585, one of his highest ever.
Four of the herd gathered around the 560/s bracket7 Ruben Rodriguez (233/565), Fred Hierholzer (224/654), and Gary Rodriguez and Chris Moseby with 563 sets.
Elsewhere, Melva McClatchey and Marcy Hyde stroked respective 178/490 and 199/492 series, and Paul Ortiz closed the corral gate after hitting 195/511.
The Rising Stars Youth
Erick Travali led the young superstars with a dazzling 174/507.
Three youngsters broke the 400 mark 7 Shane Scopatz (159/423), Sean Vasquez (166/408), and Bueanna Skrudland (153/405).
Chris Green came ever so close to his 400, shooting 192/392 while Julian Scopatz unleashed his sizzling 12-pounder and dropped a 122/358 on the pin decks.
Jessica Vasques stroked a delightful 117/317, Ariana Fisher hit a solid 97/266, and Joy Avila raised her 41 average to new heights after toppling a wonderful 93/244 set.
