After five weeks of AYSO youth soccer the Firebirds, the Fantastic Flames, the Wolfpack and the Lompoc Crush still sporting undefeated and untied 5-0 records.
Under 10 boys
G/Dragons 3, Hornets 2
Jared Mora blasted two goals to get the Green Dragons of Tecos Jr. going, and Jason Terrones blew by the Hornets for the winning margin. Boomer Duffy stung twice for the Hornets, with an assist from Kenny Hawk and defensive help by Parth Desai.
T/Birds 1, Wildcats 0
Thunderbirds Steven Eisen, Nate Tulloch and Darian Sportman made several saves protecting the net from the Wildcats, while Chase Dalton drilled the only goal of the game.
Cruz Azul 7, Sharks 1
Guillermo Cortez and goalie Isaac Zarate drew praise for their efforts.
Under 10 girls
Fearless Angels 1, Blue Flames 1
Yeanette Carrillo lit up the Blue Flames by matching goals with the Fearless Angels. The Flames defense led by Danielle Osborne and Regina Vargas kept the Angels tied up.
Firebirds 3, White Shooting Stars 1
Valerie Kahn scored twice and added an assist for the 5-0 Firebirds. Goalie Justyce Billings recorded eight saves plus left the net to score her first goal, with help from Lexie Thacker.
Fan/Flames 5, Blue Crush 0
In a battle of unbeatens, the Fantastic Flames overwhelmed the Blue Clush, despite the efforts of Crushers Madison McNamee, Karla Ramirez and Catalina Martinez. Ashlen Weddington scorched the nets three times and Rebecca Doudna twice for the Flames, with help from Sydney Townes.
Alleycats 3, Teal L/B/ 0
Lissette Bueno hit for three goals to give the Alleycats a 4-0-1 record. The Teal Lightning Bolts sponsored by Michael B. Clayton got strong play from Ali Nelson, Rachel and Gabby Pacheco.
Shooting Stars 2, Stingrays 1
Mercedes Sanchez and Lindsey Signorell gave the Shooting Stars the goals they needed, and goalie Wendy Rubio made the saves to preserve the win. Stingray goalie Selena Koekebaker also had some big saves with help from Erin Tracy, while Selena Garcia hit the Stingray goal.
Under 12 boys
K/Bees 5, Atlas 1
The Killer Bees pick up a long-awaited win, with Nick Zwart scoring, an >outstanding goalkeeping effort/ in the words of his coach by Erick Garcia, and a lot of hustle from stopper Diego Flores.
Bruins 3, Shockwave 1
The hustle of Julian Roush and Jon Morgan plus the defense led by Natan Okina kept the Elks/ Shockwave in the game, but the Bruins pulled away with the win in the end.
Chargers 3, Gauchos 2
Bernardo Rubio scored twice and Oscar Garcia hit once to give the Chargers their fourth win. Ryan Valencia/s defensive play helped.
G/ Warriors 4, Argentina 2
The efforts of Green Warriors Ramon Gonzalez, Manuel Lopez Orozco and Kevin Calderon helped deal Argentina their first loss.
Wolfpack 3, Anonymous 0
Marcell Chantry/s goal got the 5-0 Wolfpack the win, while defenders Kyle Lopez and Orlando Arciniega kept the shutout.
Under 12 girls
Tigers 3, S/Hornets 1
Tiger Jennifer Rangel scored two goals while Paola Reynoso added one for the winners. The Stinging Hornets hit on a goal from Milinda Favela, with help from Hornets Verenice Calderon and Elizabeth Ojeda.
Tsunami 3, Destroyers 1
Julissa Abrego gave the Destroyers a first-half lead, but Tsunami tied them on Raneeta Richardson/s goal in the third quarter, and swept to victory with Richardson/s second goal and Naomi Mora/s score.
Reapers 3, P/Panthers 2
The Reapers remain unbeaten at 4-0-1, thanks to two Sameeha Husayn goals and a score from MiMi Sparrow, with assists by Tana Tijerina. Pink Panther Ashley Ledesma scored on a corner kick, and Celena Vargas added a goal from 18 yards out, with Stephanie Soza defending the Panther goal.
Funky Monkeys 5, Gold Ltng. 1
Monkey Marissa Reyna did the job on the Gold Lightening in goal, while Sarah Heath hit the hat trick of goals with help from Julie Bonneau. The Lightening got Gold from Kaylin Caton, with Taylor Gilliam and Victoria Yates getting mentioned for their play.
Under 14 boys
Green Machine 1, Eagles 0
The Eagles defense led by Rafa Albert, Derek Baca and David Marquez held up, but a single Green Machine score made the difference.
America 2, Galaxy 1
Goals from Salvador Diaz and Tony Jacobo gave America its fourth win, while Tyler Grossi/s defensive efforts held a strong Galaxy offense to a single score.
Vitamin C 1, Brazil 1
Vitamin C/s Plugg Lown scored the goal that tied it up, while goalie Ben Steele and defender Twenty Wells held off Brazil/s final efforts to break the tie.
Braves 4, Aztecs 1
Floriano/s Gardening got three goals from Brave Miguel Gomez and one more by Alfredo Sanchez to even their record at 2-2-1. Jeff Rodriguez led the Braves/ defensive effort.
Under 14 girls
L/Crush 3, Girls United 0
The Lompoc Crush is 5-0-0 after a strong defensive effort from goalie Alicia Garcia plus defenders Stephanie Rubano and Laura Castro. Girls United got strong play from Holly Dyer, Jericha Garcia and Audra Hinkens.
Fusion 2, Psycho/s 1
The Fusion/s defense led by Nayly Carmona held up against the Psychos/ attack while Nikke and Elke Pertsigaele each came up with a Fusion goal.
Babes 1, Bransons 0
Black Magic Babe Kandis Flores conjured up a single goal to make the difference, with Itzel Perez shaking off an injury and Alexa Orozco putting pressure on the Bransons.
