7/14/03 The Lompoc Senior Babe Ruth League 18-year-old All-Stars are one of only two undefeated teams today after two days of action at the Central State Tournament in Kingsburg.
Lompoc nipped defending state champon Watsonville 5-4 in 10 innings Sunday as Jason Green doubled in Nate Mendoza with the winning run.
The win sets up a battle this evening at 8 against Orange Belt.
In Lompoc/s first game the Stars powered their way past Modesto 11-4 on 13 hits.
Mike Terrones boomed three hits including a double and triple, Derek Duran tripled, and Isaac Simmons, Green and Ruben Solorio rapped two hits each.

16s Sunday
Visalia 5, Lompoc 2
Visalia put up a three-spot in the top of the seventh to beat Lompoc in this winner/s bracket game Sunday at Southwest Bakersfield in the Central State 16-year-old tourney.
Lompoc pitchers Jimmy Dodos and Brandon Banner gave up only two earned runs, but the Lompoc defense was shaky, assistant coach Glen McLeod said, pointing to seven errors.
Still Lompoc hung tough, having the game tied 2-2 after six.
Offensively, the locals did not get much off Visalia/s Schwinden, who allowed five hits while going the distance. Dodos had a double and single, Derek McLeod a double and RBI, Kevin Buchanan and Tryrell Coleman a single apiece for Lompoc.
Lompoc plays Southwest Bakersfield this evening at 6. Southwest has beaten O/Keefe Stockton 16-2, Cotton Belt 14-4 and Modesto 11-1 since losing 6-5 in eight to Lompoc in the opener.

Lompoc 10, Wasco 0 (5)
Ryan McGinty tossed a one-hitter as Lompoc run-ruled Wasco in a must-win game Sunday at Elks Field in Santa Maria in the 13-year-old Central State tourney.
"McGinty didn/t walk anyone and they didn/t get any hard-hit balls off him," Lompoc manager Tom Harmon said. "He dominated the game."
McGinty, who struck out two, was backed up by the strong defense typical of the District 6 champions.
At the plate, Chris Mallory had two doubles and scored four runs, McGinty, Daryl Aguilar and Kevin Erickson each stroked a run-scoring single and Kevin Harmon had a two-RBI single for Lompoc.
Lompoc plays Southwest Bakersfield today at 5 p.m. at Elks Field.
