Military Appreciation Night

For the second year, Cabrillo High School will show its gratitude to the armed services at a home football game.

This Friday, Oct. 30, Cabrillo plays Templeton at 7:30 p.m. on Military Appreciation Night at Huyck Stadium.

Prior to the game an Air Force Color Guard will present the flag and the "Patriot Voices" will sing the national anthem. Military personnel will participate in the pre-game coin toss.

Cabrillo will also be collecting cash donations at the gate which will go toward care packages that will be sent to soldiers overseas serving their country. Donations will also be accepted from people unable to attend.

Active duty military will be admitted free to the game, with dependents and military retirees with ID getting half price admission.

Junior High Soccer

Lompoc Valley Middle School and Vandenberg Middle School played a challenge soccer match on Thursday, Oct. 22 at River Bend Park.

LVMS won 2-1 in a tight and exciting game. Lompoc Valley led 1-0 after a tight defensive first half. Ricardo Murillo scored a goal for Vandenberg to tie the game and almost scored a second time, but the Lompoc Valley goalie made a terrific save.

Lompoc Valley scored a late goal in the second half and held on for the win.

Spring Volleyball League

Registration is now open for the spring season in the United States Youth Volleyball League.

An eight-week league will begin in April and be held at River Park in Lompoc.

The USYVL is an instructional league that operates in a coed format for ages seven to 15. KIds and their parents are encouraged to participate in recreational practices and games which builds self-esteem and confidence.

The mission is to provide training in a fun, safe, supervised and low-pressure environment.

League leaders as of Oct. 26: Coed Oak - ETS Properties 6-1, Source 1 Feed 5-2; Coed Pine - Our Playground 7-0; Pacific - Pizza Garden 4-1, Grime Time 3-2; Atlantic - Wolf Pack 4-1; Indian - Pops & Tots 4-1; Arctic - Dirty Dozen 5-0, Monte's Auto Body 4-1.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

Pacific

Pizza Garden 18, Augies 8

Pizza Garden scored 10 runs in the first inning and led 18-0 after four innings. Adrian Abayari hit a home run and a double to drive in three runs while Troy Deleissegues homered and singled with two RBIs.

Wicked Shamrock 28, LPOA 27

Trailing 21-12, the Shamrock scored 15 runs in the sixth inning, then scored a single run in the seventh to earn the win. Trent Froelich had three doubles and a single with three runs batted in and Jake Kougl knocked in three runs with two doubles and a single.

Atlantic

Wolf Pack 15, Los Amigos 13

Los Amigos took a10-0 lead in the second inning, but the Wolf Pack came back strong. Glen Hopkins hit a grand slam home run, double and single to drive in five runs and Charles Broadhead had a bases clearing triple.

Valley POD 12, Brothers 11

POD scored five runs in the sixth to erase an 11-7 deficit. Phil Ortega led the way with two doubles and two RBIs. Dave Evans knocked in two runs with two singles.

Thursday, Oct. 22

Indian

Strike Force 23, Bombers 14

Dwayne Wilks drove in six runs with a home run and four singles while Joe Hecker Jr. knocked in four with a homer and single. Strike Force opened up a close 10-8 lead with an eight run fourth.

Hooligans 21, Anything Goes 5

With 13 runs in the first inning and four in the second, the Hooligans took a 17-0 lead and cruised to the victory. Kyle Darg hit a home run and single with two RBIs. Diego Elizondo had a double and single with two RBIs and Anthony Johnson drove in two with a triple and single.

Arctic

Dirty Dozen 20, The Bears 6

The Dozen took a 10-0 lead after two innings. Charles Broadhead hit two home runs and a triple to knock in six runs. Dave Evans had four RBIs with a double and two singles and Nate Taylor hit a home run, double and single with three RBIs.

Monte's Auto Body 21,

Regulators 12

Emilio Salas hit a home run, double and single with five runs batted in. Jesse Sanchez hit two home runs with four RBIs and Jose Salas drove in four with a home run and two singles.

Mi Amore 18, LP Hackers 15

The Hackers pulled to within 16-15 with six runs in each the third and fourth innings, but Mi Amore held them off. Jason Carter had a home run and double with two RBIs. Cliff Smith hit a triple and a double with one RBI.

Sunday, Oct. 25

Coed Pine

Reruns 11, Dr. T's 10

The Reruns scored three runs in the seventh for the come from behind win. Daniel Mallory hit two home runs, triple and single to knock in three runs, Jose Salas hit a two-run home run and Ryan Bower had a solo home run.

Our Playground 23,

Too Much Fun 8

Our Playground scored 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Angel Quinata hit a home run, triple and two singles with two RBIs, E.J. Villarreal had a solo home run, triple and single and Randy Stone had a two-run double. Nikomi Soza had three singles and drove in two.

Toms Hamburgers 16, Coast Hills Impact 0

Scott Smith drove in four runs with a triple, double and single and Heather Smith hit two singles with one RBI.

Coed Oak

Wolf Pack Too 0, Source 1 Feed 0

This scheduled game was the first double forfeit.

ETS Properties 7, Whistle Stop 0

ETS won the game on a forfeit.
