Lompoc/s 9-10s in champs round

7/10/03 The Lompoc American Little League 9-10-year-old All-Stars barged into the championship round of the District 65 tournament Wednesday in Orcutt.

The Americans pounded Village Hills 12-2 to qualify for Friday/s title match with Santa Maria Northside, a team which defeated them 3-0 earlier.

Wednesday was Daniel Mallory day as the American hurler both fired a four-hitter and pounded out three hits including a double and a three-run homer.

Nicholas Hay registered three hits, Anthony Terrones two, Jamal Whitaker tripled, and Evan Aguilar and Dalton Chambers singled for the Americans.

Village Hills/ four hits came off the bats of Davan Hall (2), Daniel Sandoval and J.J. Barraza.

Lompoc National battles Santa Maria Westside today at 5 p.m. in Orcutt in an elimination game.

Babe Ruth League

Tom Harmon/s squad opens state tournament play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elks Field in Santa Maria vs. a Stockton-area team.

The Lompoc 16-year-old Senior Babe Ruth League All-Stars announced their roster and schedule for the state tournament.

The team opens play Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Joe Dodder Field on the campus of Cal State Bakersfield against host Bakersfield Southwest.

The Stars/ roster includes 13 Lompoc players on the 17-man roster.

Pitchers include Cory Diaz, John Pierce, Jimmy Dodos and Brandon Banner. Behind the plate will be Derek McLeod, Tommy Snowling or Tyrell Coleman.

Infielders will be Brinton Brockett, Kyle Davis, and Scott Domiques.

Mike Aldridge, Kevin Buchanon, and Chris Smith will be in the outfield. Santa Ynez infielders Sean Hemming and Jason Lambert, SY outfielder and Santa Maria pitcher Robert DeLeon complete the squad.

The Lompoc 18-year-old Senior BRL squad of Carlos Garcia opens state tourney play Saturday at 11 a.m. in Kingsburg vs. Modesto.

The Lompoc battery will consist of righthand pitchers Max Holt, Ricky Gastelo, Ruben Solorio, and Andrew Jones and catcher§ Jason Green.

Mike Terrones, Ben Ornelas, Isaac Simmons, and Nate Mendoza of Lompoc will play infield spots while Brooks Garcia, Ryan Driscoll, Scott White and Derek Duran will be in the outfield.

Pitcher Bret Jenkins of Santa Ynez and infielders Lief Viker and Tino Estrada of Santa Maria complete the roster.
