Rising Stars Youth Bowling
Forty-eight potential superstars took to the maplewoods last Sunday and had a ball.
They kicked the dickens out of the pins with David O/Dwyer, Jr. once again leading the way with a fantastic 264/600 series.
Jeremy Buenaventura splattered the pins all over lanes 17-18 for a splendid 176/495 and Jason Love broke a four, a decent 143/419. Shawn Hogan rolled a splendid 163/394 set, Joey Pogue an outstanding 133/350 and Jamal Hargrove a delightful 133/345.
And seen dancing back and forth on the concourse was James Kemp announcing his superb 125/309 set.
Elks Mixed League
One experienced but aging herd member and another just getting his hooves accustomed to the new oil patterns led the herd out of the corral and into the bowling center last week.
The youngster demonstrated his skills by scoring a superb 257/708 in a makeup match and 226/640 in the regularly scheduled session. His name? Jake Buenaventura.
The aging one with graying hair flowing in the breeze of the air conditioning system showed the herd some of his skills by scoring an impressive 225/600 series. His name? Lynn Bond.
John Vasques and Chris Moseby alerted the herd they could also knock down a fair number of corral posts … and did. John hit a dazzling 237/585 and Chris a sizzling 235/584.
Not far behind was Fred Hierholzer with a sterling 213/577. Bud Morehouse was all smiles after scoring a 190/549 set while Lee McClatchey continued to pound out big numbers, this time a 208/546.
Ruben Rodriguez hit a solid 189/530, Jim Walker a delightful 232/529, and Gail Newton once again showed her peers how it/s done with a splendid 180/515.
Holding up the honors list and making certain the feed and water troughs were filled to last a week were Loretta Loveall (187/505) and Melva McClatchey (196/503).
Kings & Queens League
Well shucks, Jim Schneider hit one of his highest sets in several months (214/551) to dethrone Antony Overton last week as King.
Way to fire Jim!
Meanwhile Belinda Thomas refused to give up her Queen/s robe, shooting a delightful 203/572 series.
Elsewhere, Gary Watson outfought Dan Turocy 200/546 to 238/545 and Gene Rondash just barely jumped over the 500 barrier with a 210/507 set.
Two members of the Queen/s Court, Barb Klinedinst (1344/383) and Jolene Romasanta (161/425) far exceeded their averages to anchor the honors list.
Hits & Mrs. League
Two of the league/s superstars appeared on the Wheaties box last Tuesday.
The young lady on the front cover was Lerma Buenaventura smiling at her 224/619 series while the old pro, Judy Jenkins, graced the back cover with her 212/586 set.
Clarissa Watson hit a sensational 228/552 while Melva McClatchey continued to sparkle, this time shooting a great 205/538.
Todd Hollister once again smashed a monster-set, a 202/521. Wow! Give this young lady a new bowling ball and her opponents immediately run for cover. She/s really had the magic touch lately.
Deborah Peterson enjoyed a great morning with her 178/520, as did Ngaire Kemp blowing a 189/516 into the parking lot.
Bobbi Thompson returned from vacation full of vim, vigor and a huge smile and told the pins to get out of her way. They did as she tied Wendy Saunders with a 504 series.
Getting free donuts next week were honors list anchorwomen, Jill Perry (165/470) and Sally Melatti (175/456).
Brodie All Star Classic League
Trumpets please!
A dynamic trio of young ladies took Team 7 to the cleaners last week winning four of the six team points.
Lerma Buenaventura led her team with a sterling 209/738, followed by Belinda Thomas (201/645) and Ngaire Kemp (187/645).
Men, beware and note the young ladies/ team name "I.C.E.S. (I carry everything seriously)."
Sam Loresco was the top shooter last week with a marvelous 246/906 set.
Larry Romero was close at hand with a terrific 237/887 while Chris Moseby smothered Art Doherty, 256/848 to 256/847.
Ken Bailey used a huge 247 game to reach his 839 total while Tom Reigle and Jake Buenaventura slugged to an 830 tie.
The Greene Machine (Ken Senior) and Jim Brodie anchored the honors list. Senior hit a 226/808 set and Jim a 220/803.
Grey Panthers League
Who was Wednesday afternoon/s superstar?
Lynn Bond? No!
Was it Antony Overton? No!
How about Bud Covington? No!
The star of stars was the great-shooting Fred Hierholzer blasting a sensational 254/639 series into the record books.
Lynn Bond and Bud Covington tied with 575 series while Dan Turocy banged out a respectable 213/534, and Fran Winston stroked a fantastic 193/527.
Dick Greenaway rolled a terrific 204/523 while Antony Overton struggled to a 182/508, good enough, however, to anchor the honors list for the week.
Fun Bunch and Classic Commercial Leagues
Details will appear next week 7 however, in the interim, let/s hear a huge cheer for team Yeah Baby in the Classic Commercial League as they rolled to another whitewash last week to raise their season record to a perfect 32-0.
Trumpets please, and extra loud.
