Local youth football teams have 5-1 weekend

Eight Lompoc Valley teams registered victories last weekend in Central Coast Youth Football League action with Mike Burke/s undefeated Junior Division Pistons racking up the most onesided count 7 30-0 over the Paso Robles Buccaneers.

Senior Division

Chem Kids 18, Morro Bay Pirates 6

At Morro Bay, Danny Lara/s Chem Kids exhibited a gritty defense with three interceptions 7 one each by Kyle Maglaya, Nicholas McComber and Jake Morehart.

Ryan Bower and Ed Garnica also starred there.

On offense, Maglaya scored two TD/s on short runs and Jake Morehart had one.

Jacob Piemme, Cody Rieck and Jeremy Friend impressed on the offense.

The next game for the Kids will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ryon Park against the Guadalupe Bulldogs.

Five Cities 42, Conqs 6

The Conqs, sponsored by Celite and John Crabtree Roofing, found the Five Cities Eagles a little tough.

The Conqs scored on a 32-yard pass from Uso Taua to Dave Terrones behind thepass blocking of Mike Heath and Justin Osborn.

Coach Dave Best pointed to Evan Schnicker, Kyle Avillanoza, and Kyle Pace as having great defensive games.

The Conqs play next Saturday at Santa Maria against the Predators.

Intermediate Division

Conqs 37, Santa Maria 14

The Lompoc Valley Ford Conqs took the lead at 22-0 in the first quarter over the Chiefs as all three running backs notched TD/s 7 Zach Pohlman, Patrick Cook, and Jacob Burritt.

Then Cook broke loose for a 50-yard TD to extend the lead to 30-0.

The Chiefs responded with two touchdowns but Burritt returned a punt 60-yards for the Q/s final score.

Other standouts included Cameron Stevens, Edward Heggie, Trevor Morgan, Ian Hill, Ryan Covell, and Gary Laugen.

The Conqs travel to Cambria Saturday at noon to face the Guadalupe Bulldogs.

Scorpions 29, SLO 7

The Scorpions (2-1-1) dealt San Luis Obispo its first defeat.

Schuyler Shanen scored on a 8-yard plunge with key blocks by Mathew Thomas, Tyler Townsend, and Cody Flynn. Nick Taitague kicked the PAT.

Then Jamel Whitaker scored on a 4-yard run set up by a Thomas Pokotylo Interception return of 40 Yards. He got a key block from Jason Lashore. The PAT was an Evan Aguilar to Drew Sapp pass, blocking by Joseph Zazueta and Timothy Swan.

Later, Emery Taylor scored on a pass from Jamel Whitaker and Drew Sapp returned an interception for a TD. On defense Emery Taylor and Brian Magann snagged interceptions.

Junior Division

Pistons 30, Paso Bucs 0

In Cambria, Mike Burke/s Perry/s Auto Parts ran their record to 6-0 and notched their third shutout.

&#8221Keldon Marmolejo, Rory Slikker, Isaiah Montes and Eli Veal did a fantastic job on defense,B said Burke.

Meanwhile on offense Virgil Cortez and Nikko Hayes ran for two TD/s each and Edward Carter ran in for one. Making the holes were Jacob Robinson, Kieran Carroll and Keyjon Powell.

Conqs 25, Five Cities 8

Steve Haskins/ Century 21 Preferred Realty/Lompoc Honda Conqs received an outstanding offensive performance by Jeffery Aldridge who had a hand in all the scoring.

He had runs of 27, 48 and one and completed two passes to Plug Lown for a 37-yard TD and an extra point.

Joshua Howerton ran the ball well behind the great blocking of Alex Coleman, Larry Palato, Michael Bradley, Joseph Brown and Wesley Heggie.

Outstanding defensive plays were turned in by Ainuu Taua who caused two fumbles, Mark Julian with great hits, along with James Graham, Keane Marsh, Wyatt Esola, Charles Hays and Brian Heggie.

This extends the Conqs/ record to 6-1. They play the 6-1 Orcutt Oilers in Arroyo Grande next.

Panthers 7, Paso Pats 6

At Ryon Park John Hernandez/ Double-R Bar-B-Q/McIntosh Roofing Panthers got a PAT from Vinny Hernandez to make the difference. It came after a touchdown by Robert Gorsuch.

Coach Hernandez complimented the play of Collin Michaelson, Trevon Holifield and Jordan Warren of the offensive unit.

On defense, the Panthers benefitted from an interception by Gorsuch and got standout performances from defensive ends Colton Concellos and Evan Leach and cornerbacks Eric Naputi, Kiki Andrews and Robert Hernandez.

The Panthers/ next game is Saturday at noon against the Orcutt Buccaneers in Arroyo Grande.

Bantam Division

Conqs 26, Atascadero 0

Chet Buckley/s Schuyler Collision Conqs improved their record to 4-2 with their third straight victory.

Bryce Moses, Gage Buckley and Brendon Siggers scored and Brett Gregory, Kevin Marquez and Justin Guzman supported them.

The defense registered its third shutout of the season led by Moses Solis, T.J. Rudolph and Adrian Palacios.

Packers 34, Five Cities 7

At Ryon Park, Raul Yanez/ Firefighters Pack demonstrated granite-hard defense led by by Isaiah Bowman and Freddy Fields with several nice tackles by Brandon Rieck, Andrew Delira, Alex Ramirez and Bryce Mindoro.

On the offensive side, two touchdowns were made by Jordan Pickles and Edward Avila Jr. and Matthew Arevalos recorded his first TD of the season then added the PAT.

Standout blocking on the offensive line came from Daniel Juarez, Justin Angulo, Frank Williams, Nico Menjivar and John McCaffrey.

The next game for the Packers is Saturday at Ryon Park at 8 a.m. against the Orcutt Warriors.
