Cheerleaders face off in Taco Eating Contest
In advance of the Big Game on Nov. 13 between Lompoc and Cabrillo, the two cheerleader squads from Lompoc and Cabrillo will face off in the annual taco eating contest.
The event will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the parking lot of the downtown Coast Hills Credit Union, located at H Street and Central Ave.
It will feature members of each squad eating tacos provided by Taco Bell in a relay format.
Last year, the Lompoc cheerleaders won the contest in a close race.
Big Game Tickets for sale
Pre-sale tickets are available for the Big Game at Huyck Stadium on Friday, Nov. 13.
Tickets will be available at Rose's Embroidery, 726 North H St, during normal business hours, which are Tuesday through Friday - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
They will also be sold at the Cabrillo High School activities office and athletic office from 11 a.m. to noon and 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Vandenberg Middle School.
On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, tickets will also be sold at the Lompoc High athletic office.
General admission tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, $5 for Lompoc students with ASB cards (pre-sale only) and $3 for children 12 and under.
Fabing Bikes 4 Kids begins
The third annual Brice Fabing Bikes 4 Kids Fundraiser is underway in Lompoc.
New and used bikes and helmets will be donated to local agencies in need, including Domestic Violence, LOVARC and CAC families just in time for Christmas.
The Bikes 4 Kids refurbishing program has already begun. To donate a bike, contact David Eccles at 835-1328. For those who would like to assist in the repairs, which will continue through Nov. 15, please call as well.
The new bike campaign begins Nov. 3.
Gymnastics North programs
There are a pair of programs coming up in November at Gymnastics North located at 1501-A East Laurel Ave. in Lompoc.
The last "Parent's Nite Out" will be held on Friday, Nov. 20 fron 6 p.m. to 8:30. Open to ages 4 to 13, the event includes time on the super swing, sling machine, monkey maze and tramp track. The night will also feature pizza.
The cost is $21 for non-members with a $2 sibling discount.
On the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, there will be a Turkey Camp.
The program is designed for ages 3 to 13. A half-day fee (9 a.m. to noon or noon to 3 p.m.) will be $20. The whole day fee (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) will be $40. A $5 sibling discount is offered. Registration must be made in advance and before Nov. 25.
